Crisis for Our Junior Weightlifters

[thrive_leads id=’9915′]

Here we are in the middle of the International Competition Season for Lenoir-Rhyne University and Team Mash Elite.

We have five athletes competing for Team USA so far in 2021: Morgan McCullough, Hannah Dunn, Ryan Grimsland, Mallory Garza, and Sean Hammell. All five are Team Lenoir-Rhyne University Athletes and Mash Elite Athletes. Four of these incredible athletes are veteran athletes on my team, and we are looking to take home some major medals throughout the year.

Normally this presents a lot of opportunities for our athletes. However due to COVID-19 and the delay in the Olympics, funds are incredibly low regarding the Junior and Youth Teams. The Juniors are looking at two Junior Pan American Championships (one is the 2020 event rescheduled) with one in Colombia, South America and the other in Mexico. They also have Uzbekistan for the Junior World Championships, and then at the end of the year they have the Junior Pan American Games also in Colombia. Some of them will be participating in their first Senior Pan American Championships in Ecuador, and the Senior World Championships in Peru.

A lot of these events aren’t funded for these athletes, so their parents are out of pocket thousands of dollars for their travel. This is a rough sell as a coach especially if you have a top athlete deciding between different sports. In the past, travel has been paid, but COVID and the Olympic Games delay hit the funds of USA Weightlifting in a hard way. Of course, the Olympians are the focus, which I totally understand. We have a few chances to medal in this Olympics. However, if we want USA Weightlifting to continue this trend, our top Junior and Youth Athletes need your support.

I have dedicated this section of my life to the betterment of this sport and the athletes within. I started a successful University Program at Lenoir-Rhyne University winning the Men’s National Championship in the inaugural year. My dream is to see this sport flourish. It’s such a beautiful sport encouraging beautiful movement that you would see in gymnastics while handling massive weights. The sport teaches goal setting, perseverance, and dedicated focus. It offers opportunities to all shapes and sizes, both male and female, and has a welcoming culture due to the efforts of Phil Andrews.

These benefits are not enough. I grew up in the United States where we don’t sit around and wait for a governing body to take care of us. We go out and produce things that are beneficial to others. That is why I created all of these informative books filled with information for coaches, awesome programs for all types of athletes, and special informative nuggets from our friends like Dr. Stu McGill and Dan John.

Today we are offering all of these specials to help all of you get the information you desire and need. However, remember when you purchase today, you help these athletes chase their dreams. You could very well be helping the next Olympians. Guys don’t make these athletes put their families in debt just to represent Team USA. Thank you all for the support over the years. You all have helped me support now 29 Team USA Athletes since 2015. That’s something we can all be proud of! Thank You!
